MPF TOURNAMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Terms and Conditions

  1. Terms and Conditions

    1. Eligibility
Participants in the Malta Poker Festival must be at least 18 years of age, or 25 if they are Maltese citizens.

    2. Documentation
Players are responsible for having a valid passport and any other documentation necessary to participate in MPF land-based poker tournaments. It is advisable to check visa and passport requirements well in advance of the event.

    3. Liability
The Malta Poker Festival shall not be liable for any injuries, losses, damages, or expenses incurred by any player during the event.

    4. Tax Responsibilities
The Malta Poker Festival cannot advise on the tax obligations of winners. Some jurisdictions treat poker winnings as tax-free, while others consider them taxable. Players are solely responsible for tracking and reporting their winnings to the appropriate authorities in their jurisdiction.

    5. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of Malta. Any disputes arising from this Agreement shall be resolved in the Maltese courts.

    6. Grand Event Structure

      • The Grand Event, with a buy-in of €550, allows two (2) re-entries per day with the option of “best stack forward” or stack selection. Bags will be securely stored by the casino, and players will have the option to choose their stack on Day 2.
      • Day 1s are played until 15% of the field remains, with those 15% progressing in the money (ITM) to Day 2.
      • Players reaching ITM on Day 1 will receive their minimum cash payout at the end of that day.
    7. Streaming
We adhere to TDA rules, including Rule 5, which restricts electronic devices on the table. Players wishing to stream must inform the floor and adhere to the following conditions:

      • The tripod must be placed on the floor, not on the table or table rail.
      • All other players at the table must agree to the live streaming; if even one player disagrees, streaming must be stopped.
      • Streaming must not delay the game or create any competitive advantage.
    8. TDA Rules Modifications
While the Malta Poker Festival follows TDA rules, the following modifications apply:

      • Rule #23: A new level begins when the clock on the screen signals it, regardless of announcements by staff. If a new level starts during a dealer push, the next hand will follow the new level, not the previous one.

      • Rule #35: In the case of a misdeal, if a player was not seated during the initial deal, they are not eligible to participate in the replay of the hand.

      • Rule #RP8: Before Hand-for-Hand play begins, the TD will outline the procedure based on the number of players, tournament playability, potential stalling, and overall fairness. The TD may:

        • a) Stop the clock and deduct up to 5 minutes per hand.
        • b) Continue play without stopping the clock.
      • Rule #RP20: Dealer start procedures are as follows:

        • At the start of the tournament, dealers will begin shuffling when the TD announces, “Dealers, shuffle up and deal.”
        • After a break, a floor member will announce, “Dealers, please prepare your deck” 30 seconds before the new level begins. If at least two players are present, dealers will begin shuffling. When the level starts, the floor will announce, “You can start dealing,” at which point dealers will proceed if two or more players are seated.
    9. Feedback and Support
We value feedback, suggestions, and input on ways to improve the Malta Poker Festival experience. Please reach out to us at support@themaltapokerfestival.com.
