Dennis Mercier raised under the gun to 475,000 and faced a 3-bet from Italy’s Antonio Alba to 1.3 million. After everyone else folded, Mercier made the call, and the action-packed flop came J58.

Mercier led with a bet of 650,000, and Alba responded by raising to 1.4 million, which Mercier called. With 6 million already in the pot, the turn brought the 4, and Mercier led again with 1,150,000. Alba simply called, bringing the pot to a staggering size.

The river was the A, and Mercier fired a third bullet, betting 1,430,000. Alba took his time before slamming down his chips for the call.

In the showdown:

  • Dennis Mercier: AK (pair of aces on the river)
  • Antonio Alba: KK (pocket kings)

With a look of frustration, Alba tossed his cards, and Mercier claimed the massive 11,060,000 pot just seven minutes after the other players had left for their 20-minute break.
