Dinner Break Begins

Level 8: 600/1200 (1200)
Entries: 320/479

As the clock hits pause, it’s time for a well-earned 75-minute dinner break for the more than 300 players still in the running. After six hours of intense action, everyone’s ready for some much-needed fuel, good company, and maybe even a little strategy talk before the next round of tougher levels.

With the blinds set to rise, the competition will only get fiercer as players return to the tables. Rest up and recharge, because the evening promises even higher stakes, more daring plays, and an ever-thinning field.

Enjoy the break, everyone – and may the best hands come your way after dinner!

Falconieri Ate His Dinner Early

Level 8: 600/1200 (1200)
Entries: 323/479

Action folded to Simone Falconieri on the cutoff, who opened to 3,000. From the small blind, David Marshall shoved his remaining 33,500 chips. Falconieri took his time before deciding to call, and both players showed their hands:

  • David Marshall: AK
  • Simone Falconieri: AJ

Both players held suited aces, but Falconieri had kicker trouble going into the showdown.

The board ran out 432, giving Falconieri a single heart. The turn 6 improved his draw to a flush, but the river 4 bricked for him, allowing Marshall to double up just before the dinner break.

Simone Falconieri – 18,000
David Marshall – 70,000

3-Way Battle

Level 8: 600/1200 (1200)
Entries: 327/477

Gianpiero Barrile opened the pot to 2,600, and fellow Italian Vincenzo Federico made the call from the button. Small blind Jozsef Hegyi wasn’t backing down, 3-betting to 9,600. Both Barrile and Federico called, setting up a three-way pot to the flop.

The flop came J102. Hegyi, the preflop aggressor, checked, as did Barrile. Sensing an opportunity, Federico bet 11,500. Hegyi folded, and after some thought, Barrile called.

The turn brought a risky Q, creating potential two-pair, flush, and straight combinations. Barrile checked, and Federico followed with a telling 16,000 bet, leaving himself only 18,000 behind. That cautious but strategic bet was enough to make Barrile lay down his hand.

Gianpiero Barrile – 110,000
Vincenzo Federico – 90,000
Jozsef Hegyi – 115,000

Jens Lauritzen Stays Alive

Level 7: 500/1000 (1000)
Entries: 344/472

Down to his last 12 big blinds, Jens Lauritzen (pictured below) faced an all-in shove from Aaron Fletcher in the small blind. Lauritzen wasted no time calling from the big blind, and the two went to a showdown:

  • Jens Lauritzen: A4
  • Aaron Fletcher: K8

The flop brought a safe 229 for Lauritzen, who was in great shape with his ace high. The 6 on the turn and 3 on the river kept him ahead, allowing him to double up to 27,000 and stay in the fight in Day 1E.

Jens Lauritzen – 27,000
Aaron Fletcher – 55,000
