Deborah Lee Espe Doubles Up in a Dramatic Showdown
Level 6: 400/800 (800)
Entries: 236/305
Christodoulos Adamou opened the action from under the gun, with USA’s Deborah Lee Espe calling from the hijack, and Niccolò Cadoni joining in from the big blind. The flop came a dangerous K♠9♦10♠, prompting Adamou to make a continuation bet of 2,500. Espe called, but Cadoni raised it up to 11,000. Adamou folded, leaving Espe and Cadoni to battle it out.
Before Cadoni’s raise was even complete, Espe threw her remaining 33,600 chips into the middle, and Cadoni called without hesitation. The cards were on their backs:
- Deborah Lee Espe: K♥J♦ (top pair, straight draw)
- Niccolò Cadoni: 9♠8♠ (pair of nines, flush draw)
With her tournament life on the line, Espe needed to dodge a spade or another nine. The turn brought the 8♥, offering no help to Cadoni’s flush draw, and the river sealed her fate with the 10♣, awarding Espe a full double-up and keeping her tournament hopes alive.
A big pot won for the American as she successfully navigated a tense spot against a tricky board!
Deborah Lee Espe: 87,000
Niccolò Cadoni: 37,000
No Kingdom For A King
Level 6: 400/800 (800)
Entries: 229/285
Karl King found himself on the line as he pushed his last 21 big blinds into the middle from under the gun. His bold shove was met with a quick call by Christopher Lamb, seated right behind him, setting up a dramatic showdown as the two revealed their hands:
- Karl King: K♠Q♠
- Christopher Lamb: A♦K♥
With Lamb’s Big Slick in the lead, King needed some royal assistance from the deck to stay in the game. The board, however, ran out in favor of the better hand: [invalid notations]. With no king or queen in sight, King’s suited Broadway hopes were dashed.
Lamb’s Ace-King held strong, sending Karl to the rail with no “kingdom” left to defend. A tough exit for King as Lamb raked in the pot.
Christopher Lamb: 70,000

Forrez Finds a River Straight
Level 6: 400/800 (800)
Entries: 229/285
Nick Forrez opened the action from UTG with a raise to 1,800, and Pepe Frank responded with a 3-bet to 4,500, which the Belgian called. The flop came out all diamonds K♦8♦5♦ but both players decided to check.
On the 9♥ turn, Forrez led out with a bet of 5,500, and Frank made the call. The river brought the 7♠, completing a potential straight for anyone holding a six. Forrez seized the opportunity, betting 13,000, and after some thought, Frank called.
Forrez confidently flipped over 6♦6♥ for the rivered straight, prompting his opponent to muck his hand with a “nice hand” in recognition. A good value play by Forrez, who snatched the pot with his lucky straight!

Kerschbaumer Shows No Hesitation
Level 5: 300/600 (600)
Entries: 235/265
Three players saw a heart-heavy flop of 6♥9♥7♥, with Leonardo Burdino checking first to Angelo Tarallo, who put out a bet of 6,000 into a 9,000 pot. Georg Kerschbaumer (pictured below) didn’t hesitate to call, while Burdino folded.
The turn brought the Q♠, and Tarallo continued his aggression with a bet of 11,600. Kerschbaumer snap-called, showing no signs of backing down.
When the K♠ landed on the river, Tarallo slowed down and checked. Kerschbaumer seized the opportunity, firing a quick bet of 20,000, which ultimately pressured Tarallo into a fold. A well-timed play from Kerschbaumer to take down the pot on a board where every decision counted.
Georg Kerschbaumer: 100,000
Angelo Tarallo: 55,000
A Wild River Saves McIntosh From A Beat
Level 4: 200/500 (500)
Entries: 227/246
An action-packed hand unfolded when Angelo Tarallo opened with a raise, followed by a massive all-in shove from Dennis Stemmler in the cutoff for over 20,000—a bold move of more than 50 big blinds at this level. England’s Gareth McIntosh, sitting on the big blind, reshoved, leading to a fold from Tarallo.
When the cards were revealed, Stemmler surprised some at the table, holding only 5♦5♥ against McIntosh’s powerhouse A♥A♦. The flop brought a nightmare for McIntosh with 7♣5♣10♥, giving Stemmler a set of fives. The turn 8♥ changed nothing, and it seemed McIntosh’s aces were about to be cracked.
But the river delivered the A♠, making a higher set for McIntosh and snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. An incredible comeback on the river kept McIntosh in the game, while Stemmler could only watch his set go down in flames.
Gareth McIntosh: 60,000
Dennis Stemmler: 0
