Slay Slays Roslund

Level 9: 1,500/3,000 (3,000)
Entries: 193/409

Peter Roslund jammed for 26,000 into a small pot with the 10J2 on the board and was called by Kelly Slay.

Peter Roslund: Q8
Kelly Slay: AK

Roslund got out of his chair after Slay called and officially left his seat after neither the 3 turn nor the 5 river pushed his queen-eight in front of Slay’s big slick.

Set of Fours for Albrigtsen

Level 8: 1,000/2,000 (2,000)
Entries: 220/408

Ronny Albrigtsen was one of the four “chip millionaires” going into today after bagging a massive stack on Day 1b. His wife, Evy Albrigtsen is trying to do the same and is off to a hot start.

Albrigtsen bet 12,000 into a pot of a bit more with the Q3J4 on the board. Sanders jammed for about a starting stack and Albrigtsen called.

Maximilian Sanders: QJ
Evy Albrigtsen: 44

Sanders wasn’t thrilled that he was up against a set with a strong top two pair and will need to re-enter for a chance at Day 2 after the 9 river completed the board.

“Jason is right, I am the better player,” Albrigtsen said to Sanders.

“Maybe,” said Sanders.

To be clear, this author never stated this about Sanders, who he considers to be one of the stronger players in the field. He was referring to Evy’s husband Ronny who has been on a roll not only in Malta but also recently in Tallinn as well where he won two trophies. While this isn’t a knock on Ronny as his results speak for themselves, this author feels Evy is due for a trophy of her own as she works hard at her game and we have seen some major strides since when she first began on the tour, especially in PLO tournaments. Time will tell which of the friend poker couple will perform the best in the Grand Event.

Final Table Set for Super High Roller

The final table has been set in the €2,500 Super High Roller but two players won’t finish in the money with the top seven locking in a €5,100 payout for more than double the buy-in while the eventual winner will take down a €41,400 top prize.

Unfortunately, The Chip Race podcast duo of Dara O’Kearney and David Lappin both hit the rail just before Michael Strauch bubbled the final table.

Meanwhile, while O’Kearney didn’t get there with his Day 2 bullet, several players advanced through this path to the final table including Stefan Eggenberger, Alexis Lucarini, HiBet’s Eros Nastasi, and Jonty Willis.

Chung Wong Led British Invasion in PLO Knight Crusaders

Last night’s €300 PLO Crusaders attracted 107 entries to create a €27,734 prize pool. The title was guaranteed to go to the United Kingdom after Poland’s Szymon Bujok hit the rail in seventh place.

Julian Gardner, Stefan Trevelyan, and Andrew Murphy then all hit the rail leading the final three to agree to a deal with each player locking up at least €5,300. Chung Wong defeated them all to go home with the trophy and the €6,474 top prize.

Congrats to all the players that cashed in the PLO Knight Crusaders.

Palumbo Runs Into Barone’s Cowboys

Level 7: 1,000/1,500 (1,500)
Entries: 239/396

Antonio Palumbo opened for 4,500 from middle position before Claudio Barone three-bet to 13,000 from a couple of seats over. Palumbo four-bet shoved for around 35,000 and Barone snap-called putting his opponent at risk.

Claudio Barone: KQ
Antonio Palumbo: KK

Palumbo began getting out of his chair after the 487 but was still halfway in his seat when some thin hope came for a miracle on the Q. It’s called a miracle for a reason and no two outer came on the 5 river for Palumbo to hit the felt.

Claudio Barone – 180,000
